Aldo Rainoldi
All products from this vendor“If you don’t do it with all your heart and don’t dare when you are full of energy, then in the end you will miss a lot in your life!” Aldo Rainoldi heard these words many times from his grandfather, after whom he was named. This is how my grandfather described the start of his business in Valtellini. These few words fully convey the ambition of the man who founded the Rainoldi wine house. The company was founded in 1925 by Aldo Rainoldi, son of Giuseppe, who at that time had already gained fame as a trader-exporter of wines and agricultural products to nearby Switzerland. At the very beginning, Aldo Rainoldi's "Casa vinicola" enjoyed tremendous success, which was followed by the development in foreign markets thanks to wines that were created as a result of careful selection of grapes and using sophisticated winemaking techniques. At the moment, the company's headquarters are in Chiuro, in the heart of the Reinoldi family. They not only grow grapes in their own vineyards, but also buy grapes from small growers who grow grapes under the constant supervision of the company's technical experts. This approach makes it possible to produce 200,000 bottles of wine per year.
Nebbiolo
All products from this varietalNebbiolo wines tipically have rich, but elegant tannins, high acidity and unic scent – often characterized as "roses and tar". After a few years of vintage, most Nebbiolo wines begin fading from intensive ruby to a glorious brick orange color and developing flavors of mushroom, moss, leather and black pepper.
Local wines are produced from Nebbiolo, they are rich with tannins and ground notes, retaining the ability for long-term storage. The best examples can be aged for decades. Valtellina wines get only better with time, revealing fresh notes of herbs, alpine flowers and wild raspberries.
Translated from Italian Piemonte means ''the foot of the mountain" which is evident by the location of the region - it rests near the Alps which protect the region from cold winds. Nebbiolo is the king of grapes here - this exceptional variety is ideal for the production of wines with a high potential for aging like, for example, the world-famous fruity and balanced Barolo and Barbaresco.
