Monchiero Carbone
All products from this vendor"The Monchiero Carbone winery is located in Canale, in the heart of the Roero hills where its foundations were laid in 1987 when the large farmhouse in via S.Stefano Roero was purchased.
Current owners Francesco and Lucrezia demonstrate a dynamic, energetic approach to winemaking, often hailed as a breath of fresh air amid more traditional producers of the region. All wines are estate bottled in an effort to raise awareness of the quality of small volume production and diversity capable of stirring a drinker’s emotions. Their philosophy is to respect the origins of the land, cherishing its well-being to provide their vines with the correct natural nourishment, ultimately allowing them to yield just the right amount of well-concentrated fruit. While Arneis is the hallmark of the Monchiero Carbone winery, high quality Barbera and Nebbiolo are produced here as well."
It produces floral-driven white wines, whose elegant bouquet belie the wines' relatively full bodies and rich taste – typically of pear and tropical fruits rounded out with a creamy hint of hazelnut.
Roero wines made form the traditional local Nebbiolo grape become softer in taste and more intense in the aroma that wines from the grat neihgbour regions Barolo an Barbaresco. Classic red wine from Roero is fragrant, spicy, with the aroma of blackberries and cherries. It is noteworthy that Roero wines can be drunk earlier than others - they mature faster than their fellow Piemonte.
Translated from Italian Piemonte means ''the foot of the mountain" which is evident by the location of the region - it rests near the Alps which protect the region from cold winds. Nebbiolo is the king of grapes here - this exceptional variety is ideal for the production of wines with a high potential for aging like, for example, the world-famous fruity and balanced Barolo and Barbaresco.
