The Kirchenstück site grows grapes for more elegant wines, while richer wines are made from grapes from the Hölle and Domdechaney vineyards. Acquired in 1780, the Hohenheim winery has been passed down from generation to generation of the Werner family. Today the winery is owned by Dr. Franz Werner Michel, and his daughter Katharina Maurits runs the family business, and together they represent the 7th and 8th generations of the Werner family. Katarina recently bought the 13th century Cathedral de Mainz. The acquisition expanded the winery and increased production to meet the growing demand. The aim of the winery is to continuously improve the quality of the wines produced.
