Francis Orban “Les Taillardes” Blanc de Noirs Extra-Brut 2019

SKU: FRCHORBSPCH275019 Category:
Pinot Meunier | Champagne | France | Sparkling Wine | Francis Orban | 2019 | 0,75 L | 12,5 %
About
“Les Taillardes” 2019 is a refined Blanc de Noirs Champagne crafted exclusively from Pinot Meunier, sourced from old vines in the Marne Valley. This single-parcel cuvée reflects both the richness of the 2019 vintage and the precision of Extra-Brut dosage, allowing the purity of fruit and terroir to shine. Expressive yet structured, it offers depth, tension, and remarkable elegance.
Tasting notes

Brilliant golden hue with fine, persistent bubbles. Aromas of ripe apple, pear, red berries, and hints of brioche and toasted almonds. On the palate, it is textured and vinous, with vibrant acidity, subtle spice, and a long, dry, mineral finish. The Extra-Brut style enhances clarity and precision.

Pairing

Perfect with roasted poultry, duck breast, mushroom dishes, aged cheeses, or refined charcuterie. Its structure also makes it suitable for pairing with richer seafood such as lobster or scallops.

Francis Orban is a family grower based in Leuvrigny, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. Specializing in Pinot Meunier, the Orban family cultivates their vineyards with great care, emphasizing low yields and careful parcel selection. Their Champagnes are known for their authenticity, freshness, and clear expression of Meunier’s character.
Pinot Meunier varietal red wine is often lighter in color than Pinot Noir, but its acidity are little bit higher. It can taste of ripe blueberries, candys, sometimes with light smoky hints. Mostly, this grape is used for sparkling wine production.
The Champagne region combines specific climate, soil, and topography conditions that form a unique terroir currently used by approx. 15 000 vine-growers and 300 wine houses. The region has 4 sub-regions - Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Bar. Each provides customers with a different style of sparkling wine. The dominant grapes are Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier which are mainly used in Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne, while Chardonnay shows excellent results in Côte des Blancs. The region is even more appealing because of the so-called "Growe's Champagne" wines, the production of which is overseen by one family from start to finish - they grow and press grapes, make wine, and bottle it in the territory of one wine house. This gives the wine a true charm, aura, and unique flavor.
