It produces the wonderful Castell'in Villa Chianti Classico and Riserva, the Supertuscan Santacroce and the characteristic Tuscany Vin Santo, as well as extra vergine extra virgin olive oil. The estate owns 298 hectares of land, 54 of which are allotted for vines, and 32 hectares of olive groves. Part of the estate is covered with forests, where hares, pheasants and wild boars are hunted.
Tasting notes

On the palate, it reveals rich layers of dark cherry, leather, and forest floor, followed by nuances of dried herbs and spice, which develop more complexity with age. It has a well-structured tannin profile and a vibrant acidity that lends freshness and longevity. The finish is long, with notes of earthy minerality and subtle tobacco.

Pairing

This Chianti Classico Riserva pairs beautifully with hearty Tuscan dishes such as wild boar ragu, aged Pecorino, or grilled steaks, enhancing the flavors of rustic meats and cheeses. Its structure and acidity also complement tomato-based pasta dishes, making it a versatile choice for Italian cuisine.

Sangiovese red wines is appreciated for its vivid acidy, intensive tannins and balanced character. Elegant aromas of black cherries and dark plum are characteristic, and may be complimented by notes of dried herbs and spice. The use of oak barrels has become more popular and this involve bold flavors of vanilla, clove and cinamon.
It is important to note that Chianti un Chianti Classico are two different winemaking regions, but both have DOCG. In 1847 baron Bettino Ricasoli created a specific recipe for this wine that consisted of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Mavasia Bianca grapes, but in 2007 the use of white grapes in Chianti Classico was banned in order to highlight the king's Sangiovese character and elegance.
The hilly terrain and warm climate make Tuscany an ideal region for winemaking. It ranks third by the amount DOC and DOCG category wines after Piemonte and Veneto. Currently the most popular variety is the noble Sangiovese - it is extremely thermophilic and successfully reveals its best traits in warm climates. Wines have a lovely structure, velvety tannins and a fruity aroma, the color is rich ruby red, but the most distinguishable flavor notes are cherries, raspberries and spices.
