Giulia Negri's Barolo DOCG "Serradenari" 2020 is a dry red wine crafted exclusively from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Sourced from the esteemed Serradenari vineyard in La Morra, Piedmont, Italy, this wine benefits from the vineyard's southwest-facing slopes at an elevation of 520 meters, featuring clayey loam soil rich in calcareous marl. The 2020 vintage underwent spontaneous fermentation with approximately 40 days of maceration in 60-hectoliter truncated cone-shaped wooden vats, followed by 30 months of aging in 25-hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels.
Tasting notes
On the nose, this Barolo presents elegant aromas of wild cherries and savory herbs, complemented by subtle notes of dried wildflowers and forest floor. The palate reveals sour red fruits, supported by vibrant acidity and intermingled with an umami-rich background, all framed by refined tannins that lead to an earthy and lifted finish.

This wine pairs exceptionally well with rich dishes such as beef, game (deer, venison), or lamb, enhancing the flavors of hearty meat preparations. Its structure and complexity also make it a suitable companion for truffle-infused dishes, reflecting the wine’s origins near the truffle forests of La Morra.

Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo wines tipically have rich, but elegant tannins, high acidity and unic scent – often characterized as "roses and tar". After a few years of vintage, most Nebbiolo wines begin fading from intensive ruby to a glorious brick orange color and developing flavors of mushroom, moss, leather and black pepper.
Barolo wines are the best Nebbiolo can offer - they are luxurious and sophisticated. At young age these wines show uncontrollable temper with sharp and high tannins and almost searing acidity, though already noticeable aromas of violets, red currant and licorice. With age the wine bouquet acquires the wealth and fullness deprived in its youth as the taste becomes more rounded, adding peppery tones and shades of red berries, but the aromas are replaced by flavors of tobacco, leather and tar. Barolo wines are worth saving for important occasions - they are excellent even after 20 years of aging.
