Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo DOCG "Cannubi" 2021 is a dry red wine crafted from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the prestigious Cannubi vineyard in the Barolo region of Piedmont, Italy. This single-vineyard expression reflects the historic terroir of Cannubi, known for its elegance, finesse, and balance. Produced with traditional winemaking methods, it embodies both authenticity and aging potential.
Tasting notes

The nose reveals delicate aromas of rose petals, violet, red cherries, raspberries, and subtle hints of licorice and tobacco. On the palate, it offers a refined structure with firm yet silky tannins, bright acidity, and layers of red fruit, spices, and earthy undertones. The finish is long, persistent, and marked by elegance, suggesting excellent cellaring potential.

Pairing

This wine pairs beautifully with classic Piedmontese dishes such as braised beef, tajarin pasta with truffle, or wild game. Its structure and finesse also complement aged cheeses and mushroom-based dishes.

Šīs vīndarītavas sākums datējams ar 1894. gadu, un jau piektā Fenočio (Fenocchio) ģimenes paaudze ražo vīnu savā darītavā pašā Busijas sirdī, Monforte d’Alba kopienā. Līdz 1964. gadam lielākā daļa saražoto vīnu tika pārdota vietējā tirgū, kad ambiciozais un enerģiskais Džakomo Fenočio pārņēma vīndarītavas vadību. Viņa mērķis bija ražot labākos vīnus visā Barolo, tāpēc viņš iegādājās izcilākos vīnogulājus prestižākajās Langes reģiona vīnogu audzētavās. Šobrīd vīndarītavas vadības grožus ir pārņēmis Džakomo dēls Klaudio, kurš turpina tēva aizsāktās tradīcijas, ražojot lieliskus vīnus no vīnogām, kas aug labākajos Barolo vīna dārzos. Nebbiolo wines tipically have rich, but elegant tannins, high acidity and unic scent – often characterized as "roses and tar". After a few years of vintage, most Nebbiolo wines begin fading from intensive ruby to a glorious brick orange color and developing flavors of mushroom, moss, leather and black pepper.
Barolo wines are the best Nebbiolo can offer - they are luxurious and sophisticated. At young age these wines show uncontrollable temper with sharp and high tannins and almost searing acidity, though already noticeable aromas of violets, red currant and licorice. With age the wine bouquet acquires the wealth and fullness deprived in its youth as the taste becomes more rounded, adding peppery tones and shades of red berries, but the aromas are replaced by flavors of tobacco, leather and tar. Barolo wines are worth saving for important occasions - they are excellent even after 20 years of aging.
