      Domaine de la Pépière “Château-Thébaud” 2022 comes from one of the most prestigious cru sites in Muscadet, known for its granite soils and expressive terroir. This Melon de Bourgogne is aged extensively on lees (sur lie), often for over 24 months, giving it notable depth, texture, and complexity. The 2022 vintage delivers a concentrated yet elegant style, beautifully balancing freshness with structure.
      Producer
      On the very border of Brittany, in the village of Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, there is the Domaine de la Pépière winery. Mark, who grew up in the village of La Pepierre, created the winery in 1984. The name La Pépierre comes from the French word "pépie" (thirst). Walking over the village, on the slopes where the grapes grow, it is easy to understand the origin of the name. Over the years of development, the winery "Domaine de la Pépière" acquired new sites, closely monitored the quality and age of the vines, as well as the originality of their terroirs.
      Tasting notes

      The nose reveals citrus peel, ripe apple, white flowers, and pronounced chalky, wet stone notes. On the palate, it is layered and concentrated, with strong minerality, vibrant acidity, and a subtle saline edge. The texture is richer and more rounded than classic Muscadet, yet retains excellent tension and a long, structured finish. Light to medium-bodied with remarkable depth.

      Pairing

      Excellent with refined seafood dishes such as oysters, lobster, scallops, or butter-poached fish, where the wine’s structure and minerality complement the richness and texture. Its added depth also allows it to pair well with creamy sauces and aged cheeses, making it more versatile than lighter Muscadet styles.

The fresh, creamy wines with green apple and iodine notes in the aroma are recommended to be consumed after a few years of ageing. A perfect partner for oysters.
