About

A dry red wine from Vosne‑Romanée AOC in Burgundy, made entirely from 100% Pinot Noir from the “Les Chalandins” lieu‑dit straddling Flagey‑Échézeaux. This wine delivers intensity, structure, ripe red fruit and refined tannins in a classic “Savory and Classic” style. Drinking window: 2028–2038.

Producer

Anne-Françoise Gros, originally from Vaughn-Romanet, married François Parent of Pommard, where they live today, but their wines have been produced in a winery in Beaune since 1998. Parents-winemakers are actively supported by their children Caroline and Mathieu. The winery is formed by Anna's share in Domaine Jean Gros - vineyards that she bought or leased in the region of Vaughn-Romanet, and her husband's share in Domaine Parent. François Parent also offers wines under his own brand, which is adorned with black truffle. Anna's wines can be recognized by the silhouette of a woman's head, which is made in a unique style for each appellation. Since 2008, a sorting table has been installed in the winery, where the stalks are removed, but the grapes are not choked. The grapes go through a short cold maceration, and then the fermentation process. The grape juice is concentrated in a device that Michelle and Bernard Gros also use.

Tasting notes

Medium ruby with garnet highlights. Aromas of ripe cherries and red berries, accented by delicate oriental spices and hints of dried orange peel. On the palate the wine is fresh, intense, structured and warm, with a mineral-driven finish pointing to aging potential.

Pairing

Excellent with roast or braised duck, goose, game (e.g. venison), and mushroom ragout. Also works beautifully alongside roast pork with herb-infused sauces.

Pinot Noir has very aromatic profile, very fresh acidity and low level of quaite soft tannins. The nature of Pinot Noir wine is its flavors of red berries and cherry (red sour cherries in lighter wines and cooked black cherries in bold examples). This wine matures very exating, developing notes of berry jam, violets, leather, moss and mushrooms.

Vosne-Romanée is the most legendary appellation of Côte de Nuits. It is the home of the most famous winery in the world - Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. This small vineyard of less than two hectares produces the most expensive wine in the world.
