About
Sadie Family "Palladius" 2020 is a dry white wine crafted from 11 different white grape varieties, including Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette Blanche, Verdelho, Semillon, Palomino, and Colombard. Hailing from the Swartland region of South Africa, it is produced by The Sadie Family winery, led by innovative winemaker Eben Sadie. This biodynamically farmed and organically certified wine is made with minimal intervention, using spontaneous fermentation and aging in clay amphorae, concrete eggs, and large old foudres.
Tasting notes
The nose reveals aromas of lemon curd, ginger, golden apple, apricot, and white tea, complemented by subtle mineral hints. On the palate, it offers a lively and layered profile, balancing fresh acidity with ripe fruit flavors and a persistent mineral finish. This wine is enjoyable now but will benefit from aging, evolving gracefully for up to 20 years from the vintage under proper storage conditions.
Pairing
Its versatility makes it an excellent match for dishes such as roasted white fish, seafood, rice-based meals, and vegetable stews. The wine’s mineral notes and freshness also pair well with light appetizers and floral salads.
