Sommelier recommends

Prieler “Schützen” Pinot Blanc Ried Seeberg 2025 is an elegant dry white wine from the Leithaberg region of Burgenland, Austria. Crafted from 100% Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder), the grapes originate exclusively from the Ried Seeberg single vineyard near Schützen am Gebirge. Limestone and slate soils, together with the moderating influence of Lake Neusiedl, give the wine remarkable minerality, freshness, and refined structure. Produced from certified organically grown grapes, the wine reflects Prieler's commitment to sustainable viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. The 2025 vintage offers pure fruit expression, vibrant acidity, and exceptional balance while showcasing the distinctive character of the Seeberg vineyard.

The bouquet reveals ripe pear, green apple, lemon zest, and white flower aromas layered with peach, almond, and delicate limestone minerality. Dry, juicy, and elegantly structured on the palate, the wine offers lively acidity, subtle creaminess, and a long mineral finish.

Perfect with grilled white fish, seafood, asparagus, risotto, poultry, light pasta dishes, and fresh or semi-aged cheeses. Its freshness and minerality make it a versatile companion to both classic and contemporary cuisine.

Burgenland is a large wine-producing region on the eastern border of Austria. Despite the country's image as the world's best white wine producer, Austria is also home to a thriving red wine culture: Burgenland, with its sunny, continental summers, is the country's main red wine region, based on the Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt grape varieties. The region occupies a narrow strip of land that runs from the Danube River down to Steiermark in the south. On its eastern side is the border with Hungary, and to the west are the eastern foothills of the Alps. Steiermark, Burgenland is one of Austria's southern wine regions and is topographically more aligned with Hungary than most of the rest of Austria. Burgenland is home to four DAC appellations: from north to south; Neusiedlersee, Leithaberg, Mittelburgenland and Eisenberg. In each of these zones, all wines that do not meet the specific classification are labeled with the Burgenland appellation. Lake Neusiedl (Neusiedlersee) in Burgenland is one of the focal points of the region's viticulture. It stores the summer heat from the Pannonian Plain, a vast and warm area covering much of Hungary and eastern Austria, extending the ripening season into autumn. Unlike other Burgenland DACs, all Leithaberg DAC wines have qualified. Red wines should mainly be made with Blaufränkisch. The white grape varieties are Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Neuberger and Grüner Veltliner in varietal form or as a blend. Mittelburgenland, south of the Neusiedlersee, is perhaps the most notable of Burgenland's red wine regions. The spicy red wines made here from Blaufränkisch have earned the region its own DAC title, and the variety makes up more than half of the region's entire vineyard land.
