About
The Nowack Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs "Autre Cru" is an artisanal grower Champagne that offers a bold, terroir-driven expression of Pinot Noir and Meunier. As a Blanc de Noirs, it is crafted exclusively from black-skinned grapes, delivering a Champagne with richness, depth, and structure while retaining a stunning vibrancy. "Autre Cru" is a playful nod to Nowack’s philosophy of defying convention, showcasing lesser-known vineyards and unique micro-parcels in the Vallée de la Marne. Bottled with a minimal dosage, this extra-brut cuvée allows the purity of its fruit and the minerality of its chalky soils to take center stage, offering a wine that is both complex and refreshingly precise.
Tasting notes

The Nowack Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs “Autre Cru” bursts with character on the nose, offering aromas of wild red berries—think cranberry, raspberry, and red currant—alongside blood orange zest, fresh herbs, and a hint of crushed black pepper. Subtle savory notes of toasted hazelnut and earthy undertones add complexity. On the palate, it is both textural and vibrant, with flavors of ripe orchard fruit, tart cherry, and a touch of pomegranate, balanced by a bracing acidity and a distinct chalky minerality. The fine mousse enhances the wine’s precision, while its extra-brut style delivers a clean, bone-dry finish with lingering notes of citrus zest and a whisper of salinity. This Blanc de Noirs is elegant yet energetic, making it a superb showcase of Nowack’s craftsmanship.

Pairing

The richness and structure of the Nowack Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs “Autre Cru” make it a versatile pairing companion for heartier dishes, yet its vibrant acidity keeps it fresh and food-friendly. It pairs beautifully with duck breast in a cherry reduction or roasted pork loin with caramelized apples—the Champagne’s red fruit notes echo the fruit-based sauces, while its crisp acidity balances the richness of the meat. For seafood lovers, try it with seared tuna or salmon, where the wine’s savory undertones and chalky texture complement the fatty, umami-rich profile of the fish. It also shines with earthy vegetarian dishes, such as wild mushroom risotto or roasted root vegetables, as the wine’s nutty and mineral qualities mirror the flavors of the dish. For cheese pairings, go for aged Gruyère or a nutty Tomme de Savoie to bring out the wine’s depth and complexity. The “Autre Cru” transforms any pairing into an exploration of Champagne’s possibilities, making every bite and sip a celebration.

Pinot Meunier varietal red wine is often lighter in color than Pinot Noir, but its acidity are little bit higher. It can taste of ripe blueberries, candys, sometimes with light smoky hints. Mostly, this grape is used for sparkling wine production.
The Champagne region combines specific climate, soil, and topography conditions that form a unique terroir currently used by approx. 15 000 vine-growers and 300 wine houses. The region has 4 sub-regions - Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Bar. Each provides customers with a different style of sparkling wine. The dominant grapes are Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier which are mainly used in Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne, while Chardonnay shows excellent results in Côte des Blancs. The region is even more appealing because of the so-called "Growe's Champagne" wines, the production of which is overseen by one family from start to finish - they grow and press grapes, make wine, and bottle it in the territory of one wine house. This gives the wine a true charm, aura, and unique flavor.
