Lafarge Volnay 1er Cru “5 Climats” 2021
Sommelier recommends
“The nose reveals aromas of glazed red berries, with subtle notes of smoke and rich earthy nuances in the background. On the palate, the wine is juicy and intense, with flavours of ripe red berries, sweet spices, and toasted nuts. The tannins are soft and silky. The finish is rich, juicy, and lingering, with persistent spice notes.” — Ronalds Pētersons, Sommelier at Noble Wine5 in stock
A red wine from Domaine Michel Lafarge, Volnay Premier Cru AOC (Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France), crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir. The 2021 “5 Climats” is a rare blend of five distinct Premier Cru vineyards—united into one wine when frost severely cut yields. The result is a refined, complex wine with rich minerality, purity of fruit, fine structure, and exceptional aging potential.
Deep ruby with intense red-berry aromas, earthy undertones, campfire embers, and vanillin oak. On the palate — full-bodied yet elegant Pinot Noir, with concentrated fruit, refined fine-grained tannins, and a long, complex, mineral-driven finish brimming with energy.
Excellent with game (venison, goose), rich red meats, and mature aged cheeses.
