Kanonkop "Kadette" Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch 2023 is an expressive 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that showcases the classic style of Stellenbosch, combining concentrated dark fruit, vibrant acidity, and elegant structure. The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Stellenbosch, where decomposed granite soils and a Mediterranean climate provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon. Following traditional fermentation, the wine is matured in French oak barrels, adding depth, subtle spice, and excellent balance. The 2023 vintage is distinguished by its juicy fruit, refined tannins, and approachable yet classic expression of Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon.
The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, and plum, layered with cedar, tobacco, graphite, and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied, juicy, and elegantly structured, with vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins, and generous dark fruit flavours. The finish is long, harmonious, and persistent, with lingering notes of blackcurrant, cocoa, and a subtle touch of oak.
An excellent pairing for grilled beef steak, lamb chops, burgers, roast duck breast, barbecue dishes, hearty pasta, and aged hard cheeses. Its juicy fruit character and refined tannin structure make it a superb companion to richly flavoured meat dishes.
