“Fleur de Pedesclaux” Pauillac 2019

SKU: FRBOCPEWIRE175019 Category:
Cabernet Franc & Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot | Bordeaux | France | Red Wine | Chateau Pedesclaux | 2019 | 0,75 L | 13,5 %
About
A dry red second wine from Château Pédesclaux, Pauillac AOC. Crafted from a classic Médoc blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot). Style is Red – Savory and Classic — structured, elegant, and well-balanced. Ideal for immediate drinking or short-term cellaring.
Producer
One of the lesser known wineries of Pauillac, “Ch. Pédesclaux "is located near the wineries" Mouton Rothschild "and" Pontet-Canet ". The history of the estate began in the early 19th century, when Urbain Pédesclaux, a well-known trader in the Bordeaux market, acquired several vineyards for further sale, and then founded a winery in 1810. Symbolizing the arrival of the bourgeoisie in Medoc, where aristocrats had previously ruled, Urban Pierre Pedesclo began to build a reputation as his winery. During the classification of the region's wines in 1955, the Pedesclo winery received the category of the fifth cru. The estate was acquired in 2009 by Françoise and Jacky Lorenzetti. Over the years, they acquired additional land, almost doubling the area of the estate from 26 to 50 hectares. In the vineyards of the winery, significant work was carried out on soil research and replanting of vines, and in 2014 "Chateau Pédesclaux" went to the next level after a complete restructuring of the vineyards, improvement of the winery and cellars.
Tasting notes

The nose reveals elegant red fruit — blackberry, blackcurrant, and lush strawberry — intertwined with violet, licorice, and a touch of Timut pepper. On the palate it’s medium-bodied, fresh, and mineral-driven with juicy structure and refined tannins. The finish reveals vanilla and dark chocolate nuances.

Pairing

Pairs superbly with red meats — steak, roasted lamb, and game ragouts — as well as regional classics like Provençal herb-crusted lamb or duck magret with mushroom accompaniments.

Wine Searcher review

91/100
A single-varietal Cabernet Franc wine has medium body and exhibit graphite, green bell pepper and red licorice notes, with darker wines showing more cigar and leather flavors.
The home of three out of the five cult wine houses of the Grand Cru classification - Lafitte-Rothschild, Latour and Mouton-Rothschild. The soil is poor - big rocks in the gravel makes it difficult for the vine roots to get water but this allows them to gather lots of valuable minerals on the way. The taste of fresh fruit, wood and spicy tannins combined with a rich aroma of cigar boxes and dark berries are the qualities that make this appellation a true value. Winemakers use all the grapes allowed in the region - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot.
Bordeaux wines are considered to be the most prestige and renowned in the world. The region is mainly known for its dry red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes, and one can almost always find the word Château (French for „castle”) on Bordeaux wine labels. In order to understand the style of wine most desirable for your taste, it is recommended to try different samples from the Left as well as the Right Bank of The Gironde. Both banks differ not only with different soil, but also with the share of specific wines. There are several classifications in Bordeaux but the main one, introduced in 1855, hasn’t changed since and still impacts wine prices nowadays. A few years later, in 1936, an alternative classification system - Crus Bourgeois - was established. Bordeaux is known for a commerce praxis called en primeur - it means that a buyer can purchase wines immediately after harvest and prior to production for a substantially lower price, thus obtaining the opportunity to sell them for a larger profit later in the future. Bordeaux wines can be described as big, complex and with a strong character, but very friendly at the same time so that each and every wine lover could find something tasty and suitable for a great wine night.
