Sancerre produces ones of the most famous French wines. Vines are cultivated on slopes at altitudes of 100m above sea level. The soil - very chalky and contains a large amount of calcium therefore notes of minerals and flint are dominant in wines and it is characterized by a high, juicy acidity. These wines are pleasant to drink while they are young and all the beautiful notes stand out in the aroma like black currant leaves, gooseberries and green grass.
