About
Cantina di Prisco Fiano di Avellino DOCG 2024 is a dry white wine made from 100% Fiano grapes, sourced from the Avellino region in Campania, Italy. This DOCG designation highlights the wine’s premium quality and adherence to strict production standards, reflecting the rich volcanic soils and unique terroir of the area. Cantina di Prisco showcases the pure expression of Fiano, a historic grape variety prized for its aromatic complexity and crisp freshness.
Producer
The Di Prisco winery was created in 1995 by the stubborn Pasqualino di Prisco, who inherited an estate in Fontanarosa, province of Avellino, from his father and grandfather. With the desire to make famous local grape varieties that almost no one had heard of outside Irpinia (for example, Greco di Tufo, Aglianico, Fiano and Coda di Volpe), Pasqualino created his own winery by rebuilding a building that had previously been used as a stable and equipping it with the most modern equipment for wine production.
Tasting notes

The wine opens with vibrant aromas of white flowers, pear, and citrus zest, accompanied by subtle hints of honey and toasted almonds. On the palate, it offers a medium body with lively acidity, delivering flavors of ripe apple, quince, and a touch of minerality that adds depth and elegance. The finish is clean and persistent, balancing freshness with a gentle, creamy texture.

Pairing

Cantina di Prisco Fiano di Avellino pairs wonderfully with seafood dishes like grilled shrimp or baked white fish, where its acidity complements the natural flavors of the sea. It also pairs well with light pasta dishes, fresh cheeses, and vegetable-based cuisine, making it a versatile choice for a variety of meals.

Used mainly as a varietal white wine, Fiano is nutty and structured with floral and honeyed notes, tropical fruit and spice flavors. Usually it is wine with strong body and great aging potential.
When it comes to nature this region is very rich - it has a blue sea, a mild climate and a fertile soil. All this creates the perfect conditions for winemaking and allows the production of a wide wine variety from dry and sweet to sparkling and fortified wines. Campania produces wine of all three quality control categories - DOC, DOCG and IGT. A wide diversity of varieties is allowed, but the main grape is Aglianico which produces rich red wines that absorb all the nature's abundance.
