Whisky Glenmorangie 10 YO Original is a semi-dry single malt whisky crafted in the Highland region of Scotland. Distilled from malted barley and aged in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, it reflects the distillery’s signature balance of elegance and complexity. Its bright golden hue and refined character make it one of the most iconic expressions of Highland.
Producer
Glenmorangie is close to the sea. The east coast of Scotland is much milder and silent than the west one which is swept by salty sea breezes. This area is so calm it is recognized
as the “valley of serenity” - translation of the Glenmorangie name.
Their stills are a key factor in the aromatic profile of its whisky. The unusual still shape is made from an almost spherical base and a long neck which height is almost five metres. Long spirit vapour way during distillation contribute light and fine aromatic character.
Glenmorangie founder in 1843 bought two stills from a gin distillery. And despite the purchasing of six stills during extensions of production in 1979 and 1990, the shape and parameters of the two original have always been reproduced precisely to the smallest detail.
Tasting notes
The nose opens with enticing aromas of citrus zest, peach, vanilla cream, and subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is smooth and layered, showcasing honey, almonds, toffee, and delicate spice. The finish is clean, long, and gently warming, leaving impressions of orange and vanilla.
Pairing
This versatile whisky pairs beautifully with seared scallops, smoked salmon, or mild creamy cheeses. Its balance of fruit and spice also complements light desserts such as almond tart or vanilla panna cotta.
