The 2021 vintage continues Tignanello's legacy of elegance, complexity, and exceptional quality.
Producer
Antinori is an Italian family that began its history in 1385. They are one of the largest wine companies in Italy, and their pioneer work played a large part in the revolution of "Super-Tuscans" in the 1970s. The Chianti Classico region forms the focus of operations, though the company has vineyards in various countries, and about 20 million bottles are produced yearly with 150 labels. By the time the 20th century had arrived the Antinori family had fully approved itself as one of the most honourable in Italy. Nevertheless, the family was not simply pleased with its repute in Florence, and Piero Antinori bought several vineyards in the Chianti Classico region in 1900. This purchase included 47 hectares of Tignanello, the vineyard where is from the wine of the same name. The Antinori were not afraid of changing the traditions of the region, resulting in a scandal arising in the 1920s when Niccolo Antinori began producing a Chianti wine, adding grape varieties from the Bordeaux. Traditionalists were furious however the wine continued to increase in popularity and only served to increase the already outstanding reputation of the Antinori.

A single-varietal Cabernet Franc wine has medium body and exhibit graphite, green bell pepper and red licorice notes, with darker wines showing more cigar and leather flavors.
The hilly terrain and warm climate make Tuscany an ideal region for winemaking. It ranks third by the amount DOC and DOCG category wines after Piemonte and Veneto. Currently the most popular variety is the noble Sangiovese - it is extremely thermophilic and successfully reveals its best traits in warm climates. Wines have a lovely structure, velvety tannins and a fruity aroma, the color is rich ruby red, but the most distinguishable flavor notes are cherries, raspberries and spices.
