Jacquesson Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs “Avize Champ Cain” 2014
Sommelier recommends
“The nose is dominated by elegant aromas of vanilla, orchid, butter, and chalk. On the palate, the wine reveals pronounced notes of minerality, unripe nectarine, and apple skin. An energetic wine with remarkable depth and presence.” — Ronalds Pētersons, Sommelier at Noble Wine6 in stock
Wine Searcher review
A rare Grand Cru Champagne from Jacquesson, sourced from a single 1.3 ha vineyard in Avize called “Champ Caïn”, planted in 1962. Made from 100 % Chardonnay, spontaneously fermented in oak with batonnage, released as Extra-Brut (0 g/L), unfined and unfiltered. Production limited to 11,328 bottles and 406 magnums. Disgorged in January 2024.
Pale straw yellow with golden reflections. Aromas of dried fruit, honey, apple, and mineral accents, complemented by floral, citrus, and even truffle nuances. The palate delivers powerful structure, intense minerality and a crystalline finish despite zero dosage.
Perfect with oysters, crab, lobster, and delicate seafood; its exceptional minerality also elevates refined fish dishes and makes it an elegant aperitif.
