About
Franz Haas Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT Pinot Grigio 2023 is a dry white wine crafted exclusively from Pinot Grigio grapes cultivated in the picturesque Vigneti delle Dolomiti region of northern Italy. This wine undergoes fermentation primarily in stainless steel tanks, with a small portion in barriques, followed by approximately four months of maturation on its lees, enhancing its structure and body.
Producer
The Franz Haas estate was founded in 1880 in the municipalities of Montagna and Egna. The winery has 148 acres under vine and focuses on expressing the character and longevity of the unique Alto Adige wine zone through a wide range of offerings made using local and international varieties. The artist Riccardo Schweizer, who worked together with many renowned artists such as Picasso, Chagall, Cocteau, Paul Éluard, and Le Corbusier, designed many of the wine labels. Maria Luisa Manna gave them to Franz as a token of good fortune for the release of his wines. The first label chosen by Franz was for the Pinot Nero Schweizer, which was released in 1990.
Tasting notes

The wine presents an intense straw-yellow hue. On the nose, it offers a rich floral bouquet reminiscent of acacia blossoms, sage, hay, almonds, and sandalwood. With appropriate bottle aging, additional aromas of sliced apples, pears, lemons, and honeydew melon emerge. On the palate, it enchants with delicate, elegant finesse and a juicy, fresh fullness.

Pairing

This Pinot Grigio pairs exceptionally well with first courses such as pasta, rice, and cereal dishes, as well as vegetable dishes and grilled white meats without heavy dressings.

Trentino/Alto Adidge
This is one of the few wine regions of Italy that is landlocked. Schiava is considered to be the most famous red variety that produces light wines. More complex wines are produced from Lagrein grapes. Teroldego Rotaliano is one of the finest Italian wines - dense, purple, soft, leaving a pleasant berry flavor in the mouth.
