Francis Orban Brut Rose NV

SKU: FRCHORBSPCH2750NV Category:
Pinot Meunier | Champagne | France | Sparkling Wine | Francis Orban | N.V. | 0,75 L | 12 %
About
Francis Orban Brut Rosé NV is a dry sparkling wine crafted exclusively from Meunier grapes in the Vallée de la Marne region of Champagne, France. This elegant champagne is produced using traditional methods, including malolactic fermentation and at least 24 months of aging sur lattes, offering a refined balance of freshness and complexity. The terroirs feature clay and limestone soils from the Lutetian period, complemented by sands from the Cuisian period.
Tasting notes

On the nose, it reveals fresh, fruity aromas of strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, and hints of fresh grapes, enhanced by delicate notes of mint, rose, and poppy. The palate is rich yet fresh, with a smooth and creamy effervescence and a fine, lively mousse. The finish is elegant and persistent, showcasing both fruitiness and subtle saline nuances.

Pairing

This versatile champagne pairs beautifully with Brillat-Savarin or Ossau-Iraty cheeses, as well as ashed goat cheese on toast with sun-dried tomato confit. It also complements veal carpaccio, succulent tomatoes with basil, and desserts such as tiramisu with strawberries.

Wine Searcher review

90/100
Francis Orban is a family grower based in Leuvrigny, in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne. Specializing in Pinot Meunier, the Orban family cultivates their vineyards with great care, emphasizing low yields and careful parcel selection. Their Champagnes are known for their authenticity, freshness, and clear expression of Meunier’s character.
Pinot Meunier varietal red wine is often lighter in color than Pinot Noir, but its acidity are little bit higher. It can taste of ripe blueberries, candys, sometimes with light smoky hints. Mostly, this grape is used for sparkling wine production.
The Champagne region combines specific climate, soil, and topography conditions that form a unique terroir currently used by approx. 15 000 vine-growers and 300 wine houses. The region has 4 sub-regions - Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne, and Côte des Bar. Each provides customers with a different style of sparkling wine. The dominant grapes are Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier which are mainly used in Montagne de Reims and Vallée de la Marne, while Chardonnay shows excellent results in Côte des Blancs. The region is even more appealing because of the so-called "Growe's Champagne" wines, the production of which is overseen by one family from start to finish - they grow and press grapes, make wine, and bottle it in the territory of one wine house. This gives the wine a true charm, aura, and unique flavor.
