Domaine de la Janasse Chateauneuf-du-Pape “Vieilles Vignes” 2021
Sommelier recommends
“The nose is intense, with notes of blueberry, blackberry, liquorice, and soy. On the palate, the wine is rich, full-bodied, and concentrated. The tannins are supple yet firm. The finish is exceptionally long.” — Ronalds Pētersons, Sommelier at Noble Wine4 in stock
Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape "Vieilles Vignes" 2021 is a dry red wine crafted predominantly from old-vine Grenache, complemented by small amounts of Mourvèdre and Syrah. It originates from the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in France's Southern Rhône Valley, a region renowned for its complex blends and diverse terroirs. This cuvée is produced from low-yielding vines, some more than 80 years old, resulting in exceptional concentration and depth that reflect Domaine de la Janasse's commitment to crafting elegant yet powerful wines in the classic Rhône style.
Domaine de la Janasse “Vieilles Vignes” 2021 offers an intense bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, herbs, liquorice, and subtle hints of smoked meat and spice. The palate is full-bodied and layered, with velvety tannins, a rich core of dark fruit, mineral nuances, and notes of dark chocolate. A long, structured finish highlights the wine’s excellent ageing potential.
This wine pairs beautifully with hearty dishes such as braised lamb, game, or beef short ribs, where its intensity complements the richness of the food. It also pairs exceptionally well with aged cheeses and Mediterranean cuisine.
