SKU: FRBOHCUWIRE2775022 Categories: ,
Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot | Bordeaux | France | Red Wine | Chateau d`Arsac | 2022 | 0,75 L | 13 %
About
The Château d'Arsac Margaux is a dry red wine, meticulously crafted from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. This distinguished wine originates from the Margaux appellation within the Bordeaux region of France, an area renowned for producing wines of profound elegance and complexity. This vintage reflects the château's commitment to quality, showcasing the terroir's exceptional capacity to produce wines with both structure and finesse.
Producer
Chateau d'Arsac is one of Medoc's oldest estates, dating back almost 1,000 years to the 12th century. The former castle was destroyed during the French Revolution. The current castle was built in the 1830s. The property is named after the commune of Arsac, where the vineyards are located. It can be said that the modern era of Chateau d'Arsac begins in 1986, when the large property was bought by Philip Roux. When the purchase was completed, Philip Roux began an extensive renovation and modernization of the Chateau d'Arsac.
Tasting notes

Château d’Arsac Margaux reveals a rich bouquet of dark fruits, such as blackcurrant and plum, interwoven with subtle notes of vanilla and spice from careful aging in oak barrels. The palate is met with a harmonious balance of robust tannins and vibrant acidity, culminating in a smooth, lengthy finish that underlines its aging potential. This wine’s complexity and depth are indicative of the Margaux appellation’s capacity to produce red wines of remarkable sophistication.

Pairing

Food pairing for this Margaux is ideally centered around dishes that match its elegance and structure, such as roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, or duck breast, where the wine’s tannic backbone and depth of flavor can complement the richness of the meat. It also pairs beautifully with hard, aged cheeses, allowing for an interplay of textures and flavors that enhances the overall tasting experience.

Cabernet Sauvignon wines shows a strong body, high acidity and high levels of tannins. A bouquet is very intensive, with black berries and spices. Very often these wines has great aging potential.
The wines of the Margaux appellation could be called the most feminine and elegant of the Médoc region. The soil here is very porous and conducts water well, which is one of the factors for the soft and silky structure of the wines. It is essential to watch out for bad vintage years, as the wines can be watery. Along with the aroma of blackcurrant, Margaux wines have notes of violets and excellent perfumes. New wines are initially introverted and only reveal their elegant aromas and silky flavors with time.
Bordeaux wines are considered to be the most prestige and renowned in the world. The region is mainly known for its dry red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes, and one can almost always find the word Château (French for „castle”) on Bordeaux wine labels. In order to understand the style of wine most desirable for your taste, it is recommended to try different samples from the Left as well as the Right Bank of The Gironde. Both banks differ not only with different soil, but also with the share of specific wines. There are several classifications in Bordeaux but the main one, introduced in 1855, hasn’t changed since and still impacts wine prices nowadays. A few years later, in 1936, an alternative classification system - Crus Bourgeois - was established. Bordeaux is known for a commerce praxis called en primeur - it means that a buyer can purchase wines immediately after harvest and prior to production for a substantially lower price, thus obtaining the opportunity to sell them for a larger profit later in the future. Bordeaux wines can be described as big, complex and with a strong character, but very friendly at the same time so that each and every wine lover could find something tasty and suitable for a great wine night.
