Chateau Baron Pichon-Longueville Pauillac 2022

The property was founded in the late 17th century. This period was known as the Grand Siècle or "great century". In 1689, the influential wine merchant and manager of the prestigious Latour and Margaux manors, Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan, bought vineyards near the Latour estates to form the Enclos Rauzan. These vines were part of his daughter Teresa's dowry when she married Baron Jacques Picon de Longoueville in 1694, the year the Baron of Pichon was founded. An outstanding property with a long-standing reputation was born. It remained in the same family for generations. Château Pichon Baron, the Second Grand Cru Classé in 1855, is one of the largest historic vineyards in Bordeaux. A strict selection policy in the vineyard and cellars ensures the production of Grand Vin, Château Pichon Baron.

Cabernet Sauvignon wines shows a strong body, high acidity and high levels of tannins. A bouquet is very intensive, with black berries and spices. Very often these wines has great aging potential.

The home of three out of the five cult wine houses of the Grand Cru classification - Lafitte-Rothschild, Latour and Mouton-Rothschild. The soil is poor - big rocks in the gravel makes it difficult for the vine roots to get water but this allows them to gather lots of valuable minerals on the way. The taste of fresh fruit, wood and spicy tannins combined with a rich aroma of cigar boxes and dark berries are the qualities that make this appellation a true value. Winemakers use all the grapes allowed in the region - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot.
