About
Alheit Vineyards' "Hereafter Here" 2022 is a dry white wine crafted exclusively from Chenin Blanc grapes. Sourced from young vines across the Western Cape's renowned regions, including Swartland near Malmesbury, Upper Blaauwklippen, and Polkadraai, this wine reflects the diverse terroirs of South Africa. The meticulous winemaking process involves early morning hand-harvesting, whole-bunch pressing, and wild fermentation in seasoned barrels, followed by 12 months of lees aging and an additional six months in tanks to enhance complexity.
Tasting notes

On the nose, the 2022 “Hereafter Here” presents zesty and fresh aromas of lemon oil and citrus blossom. The medium-bodied palate offers energetic acidity complemented by succulent mineral tension and a subtle hint of phenolic bitterness. As the wine unfolds, layers of complexity emerge, leading to a long, lingering, and food-friendly finish.

Pairing

This versatile Chenin Blanc pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes. Its bright acidity and mineral notes make it an excellent companion to seafood, such as grilled prawns or seared scallops, and it also complements creamy poultry dishes and soft cheeses.

Chenin Blanc may be made to any level of sweetness (from bone-dry, crisp white wine and sparkling, through to sweet wine). Often it is wines with fresh acidity and specific aromas of white flowers, honey and stone fruit.
