Wine Searcher review
A.-F. Gros "Aux Réas" Vosne-Romanée 2024 is an exceptional 100% Pinot Noir from the Aux Réas climat in the prestigious Vosne-Romanée appellation of the Côte de Nuits. This celebrated village is renowned for producing Pinot Noir of remarkable perfume, silky texture, and extraordinary depth. The limestone and clay soils contribute distinctive minerality, precision, and excellent ageing potential. The grapes are grown using sustainable viticultural practices, hand-harvested, and vinified with gentle extraction to preserve fruit purity and faithfully express the vineyard's terroir. Ageing in French oak barrels enhances texture and complexity while allowing the elegance of Pinot Noir to remain at the forefront. The 2024 vintage is defined by freshness, precision, and harmony, offering immediate finesse and outstanding potential for graceful bottle ageing.
The nose reveals aromas of ripe wild strawberry, red cherry, and raspberry, layered with violet, rose petal, exotic spices, sandalwood, and delicate forest floor nuances. On the palate, the wine is elegant, concentrated, and silky, supported by vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins, and pronounced minerality. The finish is long, refined, and persistent, with lingering notes of red berries, sweet spice, and subtle oak.
An excellent pairing for duck breast, roast pigeon or quail, veal tenderloin, wild mushroom risotto, truffle dishes, and soft-ripened cheeses such as Époisses or Brie de Meaux. Its elegance, freshness, and silky texture complement refined cuisine while preserving the subtle nuances of each dish.
