About
De Montal Armagnac Oslo Hors d'Age is a premium spirit known for its exceptional dryness and complexity, distilled from a blend of grape varieties native to the Gascony region of France. This Hors d'Age classification signifies a meticulously aged armagnac, matured in oak barrels for many years, far beyond the minimum requirements, to achieve a depth and richness that is unparalleled. Crafted in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac region, it epitomizes the mastery of armagnac production, showcasing the distiller's art in blending to achieve perfect harmony and balance.
Producer
DeMontal have probably the most modern distillery in the region and their methods of both viticulture and viniculture are hugely sophisticated. DeMontal makes great armagnac but also many wines from their 700 hectare estate. The advantages are that their quality is always exceptionally high and individuality between vintages is much harder to identify. The distillery is state of the art and it is claimed that the grapes spend less than 10 minutes between vineyard and press to minimize SO2 content. The pressings are in stainless steel pneumatic drums and the distillation is on very light lees. The method of vinification is altogether natural, the addition of anything artificial being forbidden. The wine is distilled right after harvest time so as to preserve a maximum amount of aromas. Stability of DeMontal quality is quite unique!
Tasting notes

The tasting notes of De Montal Armagnac Oslo Hors d’Age reveal a rich tapestry of flavors, starting with a bouquet of vanilla and plums, followed by layers of toasted oak, caramel, and a hint of spice. The palate is rewarded with a silky texture and a complex, enduring finish that echoes with the warmth of dried fruits and a subtle, woody undertone. Its elegance and intricate flavor profile make it a spirit to be savored slowly, unfolding with every sip.

Pairing

In terms of food pairing, this armagnac pairs exceptionally well with dark chocolate, its richness complementing the spirit’s deep flavors, or with a classic crème brûlée, where its vanilla notes will harmonize beautifully with the dessert. For a savory option, consider pairing it with aged cheeses, where the nuttiness and depth of the cheese will match the complexity and warmth of the armagnac, creating a sophisticated and indulgent tasting experience.
