Roussanne is a white-wine grape and its wines are characterized by herbal aromas with green tea hint. On the palate it usually exhibit yellow apple and honey with eminent intensity. In the blends with Marsanne, it gives aromatic intensity to complement its richer counterpart's body and structure.
The vineyards of Savoie are situated in the foothills and valleys of the French Alps, benefiting from a cool climate and diverse terroirs. The region primarily produces white wines, although some red and rosé wines are also made. The key grape varieties grown in Savoie include Jacquère, Altesse (also known as Roussette), Mondeuse, Gamay, and Pinot Noir.
