About
Bergaglio Gavi di Tassarolo "Fornaci" 2022 is a vibrant, dry white wine produced from the Cortese grape, native to the esteemed Tassarolo zone within the Gavi DOCG appellation in Piedmont, Italy. This particular cuvée, "Fornaci," is named after the vineyard from which the grapes are harvested, renowned for its white clay soil that contributes to the wine's characteristic minerality and depth. Reflecting Bergaglio's commitment to expressing the varietal purity and terroir specificity, the "Fornaci" 2022 stands out for its precision, freshness, and the nuanced expression of the Cortese grape.
Producer
Castellari Bergaglio was created by a family that decided to take up winemaking at the end of the 19th century. The challenge of the winery from the very beginning was to produce wines that show the qualities of terroir in taste. To achieve this, the Cortese grape variety was used, which can be considered a symbol of the Gavi wine region.
Tasting notes

On the nose, the Gavi di Tassarolo “Fornaci” 2022 offers delicate aromas of white flowers, green apple, and a hint of lemon zest, leading to a palate where these fruit notes are complemented by a crisp minerality and a refreshing acidity. Pairing

This wine is exceptionally well-suited for pairing with light pasta dishes, especially those featuring pesto or a light cream sauce, where its acidity and mineral notes can cut through the richness of the dish. Cortese's strong feature is freshness. Delicate and clean aromas are dominated by white flowers, citrus notes, acacia, honey, sweet almonds, peach and white fruits. The wine is elegant, harmonious, with a steel-like minerality on the palate and a low alcohol level.
