Zanotelli
All products from this vendorWinery Zanotelli belongs to a family that has been working since 1860 in the rugged hills of the Chembra Valley, where more than 700 kilometers of stone wall surrounds about 300 hectares of vines. The Chembra Valley is a mountainous area and the fields are terraced here. The Zanotelli cousins have created a vineyard of about 15 hectares here, at an altitude of 500-800 meters above sea level. They put passion and knowledge into wine production, and also closely follow the future of their wine in Italy and abroad. Historically, the Zanotelli family has always produced wine from the Schiava variety, a red grape that has been cultivated throughout the Cembra Valley since the days of Napoleon. New skills allowed us to evaluate how well a given region is suitable for white grapes. Substantial temperature changes, excellent location of hills (slopes directed to the southeast) and volcanic soil - all this is manifested in the wonderful aroma of the wine. Today Zanotelli mainly produces white wines typical of mountainous regions - Müller-Thurgau, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Kerner, Riesling, Manzoni Bianco. Their range also includes two excellent red wines - Pinot Noir and Lagrein. The list of wines produced is concluded by two sparkling wines - the classic Trento DOC Forneri, Brut and Rosé, as well as Passito from white grapes.
Kerner has light body, relatively high acid level, and fresh citrus fruit character, complemented with mineral hints.
This is one of the few wine regions of Italy that is landlocked. Schiava is considered to be the most famous red variety that produces light wines. More complex wines are produced from Lagrein grapes. Teroldego Rotaliano is one of the finest Italian wines - dense, purple, soft, leaving a pleasant berry flavor in the mouth.
