Bolgheri Rosso “Scopaio” 2019

The Cipriana commercial farm has a long history in the Bolgheri region (it is the third farm of its kind established here, and the first bottle of San Martino was produced here in 1978). The farm is located on the slopes of the medieval town of Castgneto Carducci, on the estate of the Fabiani brothers, who have been growing grapes since 1975. The concern owns 8 hectares of vineyards and 3 hectares of olive tree plantations. Part of the vineyards is located next to the main building of the winery, and the second part is in Bolgheri, where the most famous winegrowers in the world grow their grapes. La Cipriana is located in the Consorzio Bolgheri DOC and collaborates with oenologist Dr. Alberto Antonini and agronomist Dr. Francesco Venerini, who provide advice on wine cellar management and land maintenance.

Cabernet Sauvignon wines shows a strong body, high acidity and high levels of tannins. A bouquet is very intensive, with black berries and spices. Very often these wines has great aging potential.

Bolgheri is a relatively new but prestigious Italian resort on the Tuscan coast, located in the Maremma, south of Livorno, and named after a town in the north of the region. It is known mainly for its vibrant, full-bodied and undoubtedly valuable red wines, usually produced using French grape varieties from Bordeaux. The wine-growing area has gentle vineyards near the Tyrrhenian Sea. Back in the 1970s, the region had a low reputation for wine production. Here, in a rather swampy area, atypical white and rosé wines were produced. It used to be that this area, unlike the classic Tuscan vineyards, is better suited for other types of agriculture. But that all changed in 1978 when, in a blind tasting run by Decanter magazine, a wine called Sassicaia from Bolgheri surpassed the great wines of Bordeaux.

The hilly terrain and warm climate make Tuscany an ideal region for winemaking. It ranks third by the amount DOC and DOCG category wines after Piemonte and Veneto. Currently the most popular variety is the noble Sangiovese - it is extremely thermophilic and successfully reveals its best traits in warm climates. Wines have a lovely structure, velvety tannins and a fruity aroma, the color is rich ruby red, but the most distinguishable flavor notes are cherries, raspberries and spices.
