Five generations of the Fenocchio family have been producing wine since 1894 on their estate in the heart of Bussia, Monforte d'Alba region. Until 1964, most wines were sold on the local market, but that all changed when the energetic and ambitious Giacomo Fenocchio took over the winery. He dreamed of producing the best wines in all Barolo and for this he acquired one of the best vineyards in the Langhe. Today the winery is run by the son of Giacomo - Claudio, continuing his father's work to produce impeccable wines from the best Barolo vineyards. These wines can be described as minimalist or traditional, but the main point is that Claudio's wines convey the qualities of the terroir in a way that only top-tier producers can. If you're looking for the next Italian star winemaker, you've found him. Most recently, The New York Times awarded Fenocchio the second place in the Barolo wine tasting - Claudio was second only to Elio Altare, but surpassed Elio Grasso, Massolino and Vietti. Considering that the prices for Fenocchio wines do not match the space quality at all, it is obvious that Fenocchio deserves the attention of every Barolo lover.

Nebbiolo wines tipically have rich, but elegant tannins, high acidity and unic scent – often characterized as "roses and tar". After a few years of vintage, most Nebbiolo wines begin fading from intensive ruby to a glorious brick orange color and developing flavors of mushroom, moss, leather and black pepper.
Barolo wines are the best Nebbiolo can offer - they are luxurious and sophisticated. At young age these wines show uncontrollable temper with sharp and high tannins and almost searing acidity, though already noticeable aromas of violets, red currant and licorice. With age the wine bouquet acquires the wealth and fullness deprived in its youth as the taste becomes more rounded, adding peppery tones and shades of red berries, but the aromas are replaced by flavors of tobacco, leather and tar. Barolo wines are worth saving for important occasions - they are excellent even after 20 years of aging.
