"As early as 1365, we find the vineyard referred to under the name of CLOUX DES LAMBREY. At he time of the French Revolution, the property was sold and divided between different owners. In 1979 the estate was acquired by Roland de Chambure and his brothers. They managed to wake up this “sleeping beauty” by important investments and with the support of the oenologist Thierry Brouin. On April 27th, 1981 the work payed off - the Clos des Lambrays was promoted by decree to GRAND CRU. Nowadays the largest part of this legendary vineyards consists of very old vines, on average 40 years. The plantation density of the vines is the optimum to get the best quality and the old vines, which needs a special care, remain preserved. The average yield is 31 hectolitres per hectare. After the whole harvest which was rigorous sorted by hand the traditional Burgundian vinification begins. A pneumatic press produces juices from high quality. Fermentation in stainlees steel vats lasts between 15 and 18 days with daily treading. Ageing and maturing during 18 months in oak barrels (50% renewed each year). The bottling takes place at the Domaine."

Pinot Noir has very aromatic profile, very fresh acidity and low level of quaite soft tannins. The nature of Pinot Noir wine is its flavors of red berries and cherry (red sour cherries in lighter wines and cooked black cherries in bold examples). This wine matures very exating, developing notes of berry jam, violets, leather, moss and mushrooms.
This appellation has always lived in the shadow of its neighbours, though in vain, because this is the home of 5 Grand Cru vineyards. The wines very similar to the Gevrey-Chambertin style - they are powerful, deep, rich and complex. Combined with the 20 Premier Cru vineyards, this is undoubtedly an undiscovered treasure chest. The time for it to shine is yet to come.

Purchasing Burgundy wines is not easy because there are many details that should be taken into consideration - the class of the vineyard, the assessment of the manufacturer, the age of the vines, the quality of the wine as well as the millesime and, of course, the potential of ageing.
