Tyrrell's Shiraz Hunter Valley 2023 is a classic expression of Hunter Valley Shiraz, reflecting the region's signature elegant, medium-bodied style. The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards across the Hunter Valley, where the warm climate and ancient sandy loam soils encourage full flavour ripeness while preserving freshness and aromatic precision. Following fermentation, the wine is matured in oak barrels, adding subtle texture and spice while allowing the purity of the fruit to remain at the forefront. The 2023 vintage offers an excellent balance of concentration, freshness, and finesse, making it approachable on release while providing solid cellaring potential.
The nose reveals aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, layered with black pepper, violet, liquorice, eucalyptus, and subtle smoky nuances. On the palate, the wine is juicy, elegantly structured, and medium-bodied, with vibrant acidity, fine-grained tannins, and well-balanced spice. The finish is long and persistent, with lingering notes of dark berries, pepper, and minerality.
