Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet Sevre-et-Main 2025

SKU: FRLODLPWIWH275025 Category:
Melon de Bourgogne | Loire | France | White Wine | Domaine de la Pepiere | 2025 | 0,75 L | 11,5 %
About
Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine 2025 is a classic expression of Melon de Bourgogne, shaped by the Atlantic influence and the purity of Loire Valley terroir. The vines grow on granite and gneiss soils, contributing to the wine’s distinctive minerality and lively structure. Often aged on lees (sur lie), the wine gains added texture and complexity while maintaining its crisp, refreshing character.
Producer
On the very border of Brittany, in the village of Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, there is the Domaine de la Pépière winery. Mark, who grew up in the village of La Pepierre, created the winery in 1984. The name La Pépierre comes from the French word "pépie" (thirst). Walking over the village, on the slopes where the grapes grow, it is easy to understand the origin of the name. Over the years of development, the winery "Domaine de la Pépière" acquired new sites, closely monitored the quality and age of the vines, as well as the originality of their terroirs.
Tasting notes

The nose reveals lemon zest, green apple, and subtle sea-breeze notes, layered with delicate stony minerality. On the palate, it is crisp and energetic, with bright acidity, a saline edge, and a clean, elegant finish. Light-bodied, with remarkable tension and precision.

Pairing

A perfect companion to oysters, mussels, and shellfish, as the wine’s salinity and acidity enhance the natural flavors of the sea. It also pairs beautifully with light fish dishes, sushi, and fresh salads, where a clean and refreshing wine is key.

Melon de Bourgogne variety tipically has high acidity, but often struggles to develop good concentration of aromas. The best wines have green apple and lime flavors, covered with mineral notes and light salty hints.
Muscadet-Sevre-et-Maine
This region is located on the Left bank almost next to the ocean. The local winemakers are very meticulous and careful, therefore are known for very qualitative wines. They are produced form Melon de Bourgogne grapes that are cultivated near and on the banks of the River Sevres and the River Maine. The fresh, creamy wines with green apple and iodine notes in the aroma are recommended to be consumed after a few years of ageing. A perfect partner for oysters.
Loire is one of the biggest regions in Northern France. This beautiful valley that stretches more than 300 km in length has been the inspiration of poetry and art throughout the ages. The dominant grapes are different in each part of Loire, and this is the only region in France that produces equally good white, red, rose, dessert and sparkling wines.
